Obverse: The bust of George Washington facing left with the mintmark to the right, the country name at the top, and the denomination below, Reverse: A one-room schoolhouse with a teacher and students planting a tree. The design is based on "Arbor Day," a painting by Grant Wood, who was born near Anamosa, Iowa.

Obverse: Liberty at seashore with olive branch in right hand and left on globe inscribed "LIBERTY." In background there are two flags, a wheat sheaf, and a steam ship., Reverse: "1/5 OF A DOLLAR" center within laurel wreath, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY CENTS" at rim.
