½ Dollar (Texas Independence)
Obverse: Large American eagle facing left, superimposed on a five-pointed star, symbol of the state of Texas. The year is under the oak branch held between the eagle's talons. Circular legend: "United States of America" and "half dollar". The national mottos of the United States: "In God we trust", in the right field, and "One from many", in the left field., Reverse: Victory", winged and draped, holding an olive branch in her right hand, and resting her left hand on what represents the Alamo. In a band above the figure's head, the word "LIBERTÉ" appears. In the same area, the six flags of Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the Confederacy and the United States are shown, designating key periods in Texas history. Medallion portraits of General Sam Houston, first president of the independent Republic of Texas, and Stephen F. Austin, one of the state's founders, appear in the left and right fields of the coin. Their names are also presented in very small letters. Circular legend: "Centennial of Texas Independence" and "Remember the Alamo". The designer's initials (PC) are placed at the right base of the Alamo and the anniversary dates 1836-1936, below. The workshop marks are located below the Victory's left knee.
