Obverse: The feet of the “Little Rock Nine” escorted by a soldier to enter the school. This group of nine black students entered the previously segregated facility following the landmark decision of Brown v. Board of Education., Reverse: Little Rock Central High School as it appeared in 1957. The building still operates as an educational institution and has been designated as a National Historic Site.

Obverse: Profile portrait of Sir Walter Raleigh, who had been granted the charter for colonization by Queen Elizabeth I., Reverse: Ellinore Dare and her child Virginia Dare, who was the first child born in America to English parents. To each side are sailing ships and below is a pine branch.

Obverse: The portrait in left profile of George Washington, the first President of the United States from 1789 to 1797, is accompanied with the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the lettering "LIBERTY" and it is surrounded with the face value and the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", Reverse: Caesar Rodney riding a horse at gallop is accompanied with the legend "CAESAR RODNEY", the state's name ("DELEWARE"), the date of its admission into Union ("1787"), its nickname ("THE FIRST STATE") and the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM"
