Obverse: Displays an uncloaked Washington facing right (to an observer) with two crossed flags behind him. There are 13 stars lining the edge of the coin, but due to a poor die, the stars on the right side of the coin may be light., Reverse: A wreath made up of an olive branch on the left and an oak branch on the right. At the bottom middle is a military trophy with a drum over it as well as crossed cannons and rifles.

Obverse: Bust of Washington right, with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" surrounding and date below., Reverse: Large "5" in center, 13 stars surrounding, and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "CENTS" at rim.
