Obverse: The portrait in left profile of George Washington, the first President of the United States from 1789 to 1797., Reverse: A Bristlecone Pine tree and rocky glacial moraines where the trees grow. These trees grow at a higher elevation in the Great Basin National Park and are some of the world's oldest. The park contains numerous Bristlecone Pine groves with trees older than 4,000 years.

Obverse: The portrait in left profile of George Washington, the first President of the United Stats from 1789 to 1797, is accompanied with the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the lettering "LIBERTY" and it is surrounded with the face value and the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", Reverse: A King salmon breaching the water in front of Mount Rainier.

The image evokes the remarkable care and energy that this species puts into their offspring. The design is intended to promote awareness to the species’ threatened status due to habitat loss and commercial hunting. The National Park of American Samoa is the only park in the United States that is home to the Samoan fruit bat.
