"UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR" at rim surrounding tablet at top and wreath of cotton and corn tied at base with ribbon. Tablet is inscribed with "DEO EST GLORIA." A circle of dots in in the center enclosing "895.8 S." over "4.2--G." over "100--C" with "25 GRAMS" at bottom matching curve of dot circle.

½ Dollar (Alabama Centennial)

Obverse: Portraits of William Wyatt Bibb, the first governor of Alabama, and Thomas E. Kilby, the current governor. Twenty-two stars are arranged to each side of the portrait. Some coins were struck with “2X2” in the right field above the stars. Although this was intended to be a scarcer variety, ultimately the number of plain and “2X2” coins were very close., Reverse: An eagle perched on a shield, which is based on the Alabama State Seal.
