Obverse: A portrait of Liberty facing left, with flowing hair. Liberty wears a headdress somewhat reminiscent of what appears on the obverse of the Indian Head gold $10 eagle from 1907 to 1933. This headdress, however, features 13 rays of light, symbolizing the free and creative spirit of America’s people., Reverse: Bald eagle, facing right, preparing to land. Inscription below.

Obverse: The left profile portrait of George Washington, the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797, is accompanied by the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the word "LIBERTY" and is surrounded by the face value and the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"., Reverse: An illustration of the cultures of New Mexico surrounded by the legend in hollow.
