Obverse: Statue of Liberty, Reverse: "The design is emblematic of the principle "To Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and our Posterity", the sixth of six principles of American democracy found in the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution. It features a young Lady Liberty carrying her torch, symbolizing the hope and promise of America. It also features an American Eagle privy mark from an original "coin punch" identified at the United States Mint at Philadelphia."

Obverse: Bust of Liberty left in center of ring of dots. "E · PLURIBUS . UNUM," stars, and date at rim., Reverse: Eagle left standing on wide scroll inscribed with motto. Behind scroll there are arrows and olive branches. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "· HALF DOLLAR ·" at rim.

Obverse: The portrait in left profile of George Washington., Reverse: A frontiersman gazing across the mountains to the West. Many pioneers used Cumberland Gap on their journey into the western frontiers of Kentucky and Tennessee.
